Mixed media on paper · 29.5 x 29.5cm (12 x 12in)
Thames Summer II is a contemporary abstract artwork exploring the movement and rhythm of the River Thames at the height of summer. Part of a series of three related works, it shifts focus from contrast to flow, tracing the continuous motion of water, light and activity along the river’s edge.
Layered blues form a fluid ground, over which brighter accents emerge and dissolve, suggesting passing boats, reflections and the transient presence of people. Collage and mixed media processes build a surface that feels active and responsive, where marks overlap and interact to create a sense of ongoing change. Reflections fracture and reform, capturing the instability of what is seen on moving water.
Compact in scale yet rich in detail, the work offers a dynamic visual presence without overwhelming a space. It is well suited to smaller interiors, grouped displays or commercial environments where artwork is selected to introduce movement, energy and a contemporary connection to landscape.
