Sarah Le-Fevre – abstract mixed media artist
I am a UK-based contemporary abstract artist who is particularly drawn to water and the way it interacts with landscape, wildlife and human activity. Living close to the Thames in Oxfordshire, I see each day how the river shifts with season, time of day and weather, how that conceals or reveals, how light changes, how textures deepen or soften in response.
When I am able to spend time on the coast, I notice the contrast. Wide skies and tidal forces contrast with the more intimate impressions of home; where current moves steadily, reshaping edges over time; where willow canopies fragment the light; where silt gathers along the riverbank and lichen settles quietly on stone.
Working primarily in layered acrylic and mixed media, my paintings are built through accumulation and erosion. Marks are laid down, obscured, and revealed again. Across my wider practice, including textiles and found objects, I incorporate gradual but powerful transformations such as corrosion, staining and decay. This create surfaces which hold memory and make the passage of time visible.
My lived experience of neurodivergent traits informs both subject and process. I return to familiar places through the lenses of masking, sensory difference and an attraction to the complexity of living systems. Each piece becomes an exploration of place and psychological landscape, designed not just to decorate a wall but to alter how a room feels.
