Tetraptych of 20 x 20 cm canvases in acrylic

Moorings is a contemporary abstract tetraptych inspired by boats and structures along the River Thames. Composed of four square canvases, the work explores the visual complexity created by surfaces both above and below the waterline — where engineered forms, weathered materials and reflective movement intersect.

Deep blues and reds establish a rich, layered ground, while linear marks reference the functional elements of moored boats — ropes, panels, fittings and infrastructure. These structured forms are subtly disrupted and reinterpreted through reflection, where straight lines become curves and surfaces dissolve into ripples. Acrylic layering builds texture and depth across each panel, allowing the composition to shift as the eye moves between them.

Designed as a multi-part work, Moorings offers flexibility in display, whether hung as a unified grid or with slight spacing between panels. Its combination of structure, texture and abstracted industrial detail makes it well suited to contemporary interiors, including residential spaces and design-led commercial environments seeking artwork with both visual impact and conceptual depth.
